The Social and Emotional Awareness Coaching Framework utilizes the 5 SEL Competencies developed by CASEL (Collaborative of Social and Emotional Learning). The CASEL 5 are a set of powerful, research-based executive functions that provide a full 360º view of life, leadership and executive functions.
Self-Awareness - being willing to acknowledge one’s current strengths and limitations so that realistic and attainable goals can be set. Likewise, increased self-awareness of values and hopes for the future is encouraged.
Self-Management - the ability to navigate and shift one’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in a healthy way in order to make decisions and reach goals that benefit oneself and others.
Social Awareness - relates to creating and developing the ability to take multiple perspectives and empathize with those from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and cultures.
Relationship Skills - includes understanding the intent behind communication, active listening, filtering out irrelevant information, building interpersonal emotional bonds, and engaging in collaborative conflict resolution.
Ethical Decision-Making and Social Responsibility - the ability to make meaningful deductions, constructive inferences, and respectful choices in personal, interpersonal, and social interaction.
